Newport Carnival is returning for its first Christmas Carnival Parade since 2019 having had the last 2 planned events cancelled due to the pandemic.
The team have been working around the clock to bring a new and improved Christmas Parade back to the streets of Newport in 2022.
Following feedback from 2019, this year we have decided to have our parade take place on the first Saturday of December, instead of a week or two earlier in November.
Having spoken to local businesses, we are keen to bring people to Newport town centre at the start of December, after payday, to help keep those local businesses on the map!
Our Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday 3rd December 2022 at 17:00 from Church Litten.
Participants are asked to form up at Church Litten from 16:15 (the road will be closed at this time – access remains open to supermarkets and petrol station) with judging taking place from 16:30.
The parade will commence at 17:00 and cascade its way through the town ending at the Quay.
The route is as follows… Left out of Church Litten into South Street, right into St James’ Street, left into Pyle Street, right into High Street, left into Quay Street before turning onto The Quay and finishing.
Anyone can take part, please get in contact with the team.
Additionally, working closely with Silver Screen Autographs in Scarrots Lane, a family day out has been created for all to enjoy with Step into Christmas taking place along Scarotts Lane, which is closed to traffic for the day.
There are various other businesses around the town that are also staying open late to support this up-and-coming event.
Step into Christmas, organised by Silver Screen Autographs, will run throughout the day on Saturday 3rd December 2022 from 10:00 until 16:00.
