Newport Carnival’s Christmas Light Parade Cancelled for 2020 2048 1069 Newport Carnival

It is with great sadness to announce that our annual Newport Carnival Christmas Parade will not be taking place this year as planned.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, it is not safe to ask volunteers to take part or line the streets of Newport this Christmas, nor will any road closures be granted in the near future for such events during to the pandemic.

As a committee we are gutted that there we will be unable to bring some festive cheer to the streets of Newport in 2020, something we look forward to each year, just like any other carnival or parade we host. We hope that you are able to have your own mini Christmas parade with your kids in your homes.

That said, we hope to return next year, with plans already underway for our 99th year. From all of us here at Newport Carnival, we wish everyone all the very best over the winter months and hope you all stay safe and protect yourselves, loved ones and those around you from this deadly virus.

Until we meet again, take care.
